Whitmarsh: We need to conquer America

The McLaren boss and FOTA chairman says he thinks F1 should hold two races per season in America, saying "America doesn't need us, but we need to conquer it."

DC   David Coulthard
I thought Christopher Columbus already did that.
MBrundle   Martin Brundle
I think Whitmarsh was speaking in sporting terms David, we are not actually going to invade the country.
jackie   Jackie Stewart
Any attempt to conquer America should be approached in a methodical manner and only initiated when the tools at your disposal are commensurate to the task. Their military might and national pride are quite formidable.
jpm   Juan Pablo Montoya
Hands off the USA dudes, Freedom Fries Rock!
MycLaren   Martin Whitmarsh
Just to clarify, I think there should be two US GPs, one on the the east coast, and one on the west coast.
fernando   Fernando Alonso
Good job we are going to Texas then, right slap in the middle......of nowhere.
DC   David Coulthard
Texas, that's cool. I always loved Dallas, I might get to meet J. R. Ewing.
MBrundle   Martin Brundle
That was a fictional show David, and the GP is going to be in Austin.
DC   David Coulthard
Austin, they must have named that after the Six Million Dollar Man, I might get to meet him instead.
mschumi   Michael Schumacher
Well given some of the F1 flops we exported to US racing, they hardly think F1 is an elite sport.
fernando   Fernando Alonso
Surely you don't mean Villeneuve, Piquet Jr., and Raikkonen Michael? All of whom failed to shine in a NASCAR feeder formula.
mschumi   Michael Schumacher
Maybe it was the fact they were driving trucks Fernando. I am guessing the aerodynamics on those are pretty complex.
fernando   Fernando Alonso
I think their aero is about as complex as a double decker bus Michael.
innocent   Nelson Piquet Jr.
Having been the unwitting and hapless pawn in a hideous episode of sporting skullduggery I am simply trying to rebuild my life and reputation here in the US guys.
mschumi   Michael Schumacher
Get real Nelsinho, Carlos the Jackal has a better chance of rebuilding his reputation than you have.
fernando   Fernando Alonso
Good one Michael. Ahhh, if only all my teammates were as compliant, desperate, and imbecilic as poor little Piquet. I never do tire of shining that Singapore GP trophy.
CherZing   Nicole Scherzinger
Lewis baby, please talk to Bernie, there could be GPs in LA and New York. I could play mega-gigs after the GPs.
hammy   Lewis Hamilton
That would just be awesome, I could ask Martin to expand the McLaren garages to fit our expanded entourage in there too. We might have to lose some of the mechanics, but hey, this is supposed to be a glamour biz.
Bernie   Bernie Ecclestone
I'm working on something with Simon Cowell, where the F1 drivers sing off against the American Idol finalists, the prize being a drive in the US GP.
todt   Jean Todt
They would of course need to get super-licenses Bernie. The FIA would look very sternly on untrained singers or drivers taking a GP start.
Bernie   Bernie Ecclestone
That's the problem with the world, too many qualifications, too much education, too many morals. Just let them at it, you can sanction them later Jean.
