Wolff ready for new challenge

Susie Wolff is preparing for the start of the new DTM season on Sunday, a position she will juggle with her role as the new development driver for the Williams F1 team. "I think the main difference between DTM and F1 is the fact that DTM is a touring car," said Wolff, before adding "From what I hear from Paul Di Resta, it seems that F1 is tougher, but it is not a million miles away from DTM level."

mschumi   Michael Schumacher
Maybe I'm old fashioned but I thought one of the primary requirements of a development driver would be an ability to provide very precise feedback on how subtle engineering and aerodynamic tweaks impact on car performance.
Williams   Frank Williams
Yes Michael, we demand the highest standards from our drivers in terms of their feedback, as they are a vital link in developing what are essentially ever-evolving prototypes.
mschumi   Michael Schumacher
You're sorted then, the wife of your shareholder, your new development driver, is clearly an expert in analysing the minutiae of engineering detail, and I quote: "The main difference between DTM and F1 is the fact that DTM is a touring car".
Williams   Frank Williams
Mother of Christ.
mschumi   Michael Schumacher
Just as well Patrick Head is retired, if a driver said that to him he'd probably have a stroke. Perhaps Susie should share her wisdom with my namesake in DTM, he might do a little better.
schumi   Ralf Schumacher
Please Michael, I'm your brother not just your namesake, and one of the reasons for my struggle is that a DTM car is a very challenging car to master.
mschumi   Michael Schumacher
A DTM is about as challenging to master as a shopping trolley Dannii, you're an embarrassment to the human race, as well as the family.
TomK_8   Tom Kristensen
Given I have won Le Mans eight times Michael, it is a testament to the quality of the field in the DTM that I only won four races to date in that category.
diResta   Paul di Resta
To back up Tom's assessment, my extraordinary talents behind the wheel of an F1 car confirm that the DTM must be considered a fertile training ground for F1 superstars. While my compatriot Susie was not someone who rivalled my DTM performances, I hope that she can acquit herself well in F1, albeit I think it unlikely she will reach my stratospheric heights.
mschumi   Michael Schumacher
Uncle Schumi would like to point out one important difference between DTM and F1 cars: braking performance. I'll give you a demonstration the next time you're tailing me down a straight Di Resta, your F1 experience will definitely hit the stratosphere then.
fernando   Fernando Alonso
Speaking of F1 marriages, I heard you're getting hitched again Bernie, a Brazilian lawyer no less.
Bernie   Bernie Ecclestone
Well Fernando, she's as good in court as she looks out of it so that's enough for me, and she has a brain too which helps, handy to have a legal sounding board for some of my tax schemes. Anyway there's no time to be wasting at my age, I might only have another twenty or thirty years left.
fernando   Fernando Alonso
Bit optimistic there, I'll give you credit though, the numbers do look good, she's 46 years younger and 7 inches taller than you.
Bernie   Bernie Ecclestone
She's bloody lucky to have me Fernando, I find taller women more practical anyway. All these spotty teenagers that work in the local supermarket stack things too high for me, louts should be out doing real work. Anyway, a tall missus can get them for me, and the view isn't too bad for old Bernie while she's at it. Win win.
fernando   Fernando Alonso
Actually, on the subject of female test drivers, how's my little protege Ambrosia, I heard you're getting a run at Mugello next week.
Ambrosia   Jerome d'Ambrosio
I am a bit nervous Fernando, my mum said it is very important to make a good first impression.
fernando   Fernando Alonso
Wise woman, why not bring her along with you to the test. That will definitely make a lasting impression, and if she can tell the difference between a touring car and your F1 car she might get to have a go in it.
Ambrosia   Jerome d'Ambrosio
I'm not sure Fernando, it's a bit tricky at the moment, when my mum heard the news about Bernie getting married she was angry and said it was about time for me to get a nice girl and settle down.
fernando   Fernando Alonso
We'll sort that Ambrosia. You're an F1 driver, that should give you a shot with a chat-up line. Next time you meet a girl you like tell her you learned a lot from your Virgin experience and that you're hoping for a lot more success in your new Lotus position. Let me know how it goes.
