Hamilton 15th in BBC's greatest drivers list
As the BBC profiles it's top 20 F1 drivers in history over the course of the 2012 season, it has been revealed that former F1 champion Lewis Hamilton has placed 15th in the list. Hamilton, nicknamed "Il Phenomeno" in Italy, was praised for his impressive debut season as well as his wet weather driving. Criticism was however levelled at his loss of that debut title as well as his error-ridden 2011 season.

15th? What the frick?
I totally don't get it Nando, everyone thinks I'm awesome.

Fernando Alonso
Not exactly, looks like the 'Hamilton-is-a-spineless-git' campaign myself and Dave Ryan started is paying off finally. We labelled you "ll Pratto" rather than "Il Phenomeno".

Yellow helmet plus McLaren = best ever driver. I totally should be top with Ayrton. You can't be higher than me Nando, you're just my Prost.
fernando
Fernando Alonso
Come on now Prost, snap out of it, you've had a whole year to get over the Senna documentary.

He totally freaks me out Nando, you're a way better Prost than him. I just can't believe Murray Walker was involved in this and they put 14 drivers above me.

I would like to put it on record that given my long association with the BBC I will respect the choices of their F1 team, irrespective of where they place me on the list, owing to the debt I feel I owe the BBC for being instrumental during my multiple F1 careers in establishing me as a British hero, a lesson you would do well to learn Lewis. Murray and I always had a special relationship, which endured during all our interviews, whether Murray was quizzing me after a victory, or after a defeat, during times of joy, or times of stress, or whether we spoke during my racing career, or during my retirement, or during my return, or during my subsequent re-retirement, or during my re-return, and final retirement. And further I might add how proud I am that we are linked so iconically in the pantheon of spectacular, dramatic, heart-warming, heart-breaking, heart-stopping, vintage F1 footage.

I guess the BBC will do their usual hatchet job on me and ignore the statistics that categorically place me as the best driver ever.
diResta
Paul di Resta
Slight correction there Michael, currently you are statistically the best driver ever. Motorsport historians will record this as the time when I emerged from the nascent period of my stellar career, when I moved on to the top team enabling me to fulfil my destiny and overhaul your records, with a possible ironic twist being me replacing you at Mercedes.

Michael Schumacher
Go anywhere near my Mercedes Di Resta and I will ironically twist your neck until that swollen nonce of yours pops off.

Even if the Mercedes deal does not work out Michael, an indicator of how my sublime talent has lit up the F1 world is that I have been also linked to a Ferrari seat. Given I am potentially the best driver ever, there would be a neat symmetry in me joining the greatest team in the history of F1, a view shared by a compatriot with a similar level of talent to myself, Sir Jackie Stewart.

The conversion of one's potential into results is a complex process, requiring a multi-faceted skill set as both a driver and a man. The fact that I regularly feature highly in the all-time lists is in no small measure a consequence of my mantra that the manner in which one's victories are achieved is just as important as the victories themselves, as I delineate in my autobiography "Winning is not enough".

Michael Schumacher
Winning is not enough? I have to say you lost me there Jackie. I'm calling my book "Winning at all costs".

I'm never going to get on a list like this unless I can get a proper race drive Fernando.
fernando
Fernando Alonso
Keep cool Ambrosia, we'll get you immortalised one way or another. Actually, now I think of it, ever hear of the FBI's Most Wanted list?
Ambrosia
Jerome d'Ambrosio
That sounds cool, I don't always feel very wanted at Lotus.
Is the FBI a bit like the FIA Fernando?
fernando
Fernando Alonso
Er.. near enough. Anyway, let me know next time you're flying to the US Ambrosia, I'll give you a little bag of special magic powder to bring with you, you'll be amazed how many lists it'll get you on.
